This sanctuary hosts a significant elephant population, offering a rare opportunity to witness these majestic creatures in their natural habitat. The park is a haven for diverse wildlife, from elusive jungle cats and sloth bears to deer, primates, leopards, and more. Bird enthusiasts will be delighted by endemic species like the Sri Lankan spurfowl. Your journey includes a visit to the Elephant Transit Home, where orphaned baby elephants are rehabilitated before returning to the wild at the age of five. Good to Know

At the Elephant Transit Home, you can meet Amie, a baby elephant whose care is sponsored by our property, Waraka, through the foster parent scheme.

The Elephant Transit Home is open to visitors at 10:30 a.m., 2:30 p.m., and 6:00 p.m.

We recommend visiting in the evening after your safari, as it tends to be less crowded.

If you wish to visit only the Elephant Transit Home, please speak with our team.
