Amie the Orphan Elephant

A Symbol of Hope in Wildlife Conservation
Image

Waraka’s dedication to wildlife conservation is exemplified through our partnership with ‘Eth Athuru Sevana,’ which holds the distinction of being the first Elephant Transit Home in Asia. This facility plays a crucial role in providing a safe haven for vulnerable young elephants, offering them the necessary care and rehabilitation they need to recover and eventually thrive independently in their natural habitat.

At Eth Athuru Sevana, the focus is on nurturing these elephants, many of whom are orphaned or injured, back to health and strength. One such elephant we support and have named Amie receives specialized care and attention, ensuring her well-being and successful rehabilitation journey.

Moreover, our involvement extends beyond mere support; it reflects our deep-seated commitment to protecting wildlife and their natural habitats. By assisting in the recovery and eventual release of these elephants into various national parks, including Amie, we play a vital role in preserving biodiversity and promoting the harmonious coexistence of humans and wildlife.

Waraka’s collaboration with ‘Eth Athuru Sevana’ underscores our belief in responsible tourism and conservation practices. It serves as a testament to our dedication to making a positive impact on the environment and the precious wildlife, such as Amie, that shares our planet.
