Pasikudah

Experience the east coast
Image

Watch the sunrise on the Eastern Coast of Sri Lanka at one of the most loved coastal destinations on the island. Pasikudah Beach is famed for its clear, calm waters and pristine shores which also make it the perfect spot for a swim. It’s not just the beach that keeps visitors coming, but the few attractions in and around Pasikudah bring out its eastern culture and history.

Pasikudah is well known for its underwater treasures. You can snorkel in Pasikudah bay or Sri Lanka's latest marine sanctuary, the Kayankerni reef. If you are feeling more adventurous, plenty of shipwrecks burst with marine life for novice and experienced scuba divers to explore.

To discover the unique east coast culture, explore the village of Valaichchenai and its harbour, the most significant harbour in the region. If you are looking for a bit of Sri Lankan history, why not visit Batticaloa Dutch Fort, not far from Pasikudah? First built by the Portuguese and reinforced by the Dutch, this fort still stands strong centuries later. When it comes to thrilling adventures, Pasikudah doesn’t fall short in any way! Go jet skiing across the calm waters for that adrenaline rush. Windsurfing and surfing are also popular when the winds are good. Mingling with the locals can be a fantastic experience; visitors might even be offered the opportunity for a fishing experience in the sea or the lagoons.
