Gentle and predictable swells in the waters of Weligama Beach provide surfing year-round, and the breaks are located just in front of Parangi Weligama Bay, make this the best choice for those trying surfing for the first time. Veteran surfers can enjoy a thrilling experience at Midigama Beach where the popular Lazy Left Break boasts waves that reach 5-6 ft on a good day.

When it comes to places to visit, the lush green paddy fields and cinnamon plantations provide a great insight into the life of the inland villages near Sigiriya. Did you know you can even discover tea and rainforests less than an hour away from Weligama? The waters off the coast of Weligama are home to Blue Whales, and an excursion can be arranged from Mirissa Harbour to discover the world's largest mammal. If you want to snorkel, we recommend snorkelling in Polhena, 20 minutes away, which is home to sea turtles that feed on the reef. For diving, we recommend driving down to Unawatuna to explore the region's shipwrecks. Visitors can catch a glimpse of history at the ancient temple of Agrabodhi, which dates back to the time of King Devanampiyatissa, or drive down to Galle to explore the Dutch fort.
