About Scottish Planter

Our Story
Image

Up in the hill country, nestled in between the neat rows of tea is Scottish Planter. The very first owner of this ancient bungalow was Geo Armitage in the 1880s, and ownership was later transferred to the Anglo-Ceylon Tea Company. Today, these stone buildings with over 100 years of history have been transformed into holiday bungalows for guests in the Nuwara Eliya district to enjoy.

Offering our guests, a glimpse of traditional Scottish charm, the exterior and interior of our Nuwara Eliya Villas have been designed with the essence of Scottish culture in mind. Throughout the property, guests will come across several fireplaces keeping the surroundings warm and comforting for a break from the chilly atmosphere outside. Each living space has a unique tartan tapestry with vibrant, bold shades giving one the feeling of being whisked away to Scotland itself!

Whilst bringing out a traditional Scottish feel to your stay, we also make sure that our living spaces are equipped with all the essential amenities for a comfortable experience. All the rooms boast vistas of misty mountains and soothing views of bright verdant tea bushes…a brilliant site to rise to! Our partnership with the Liddesdale tea factory will ensure that you get a quintessential tea planters experience with a factory visit and tasting.
