Intrigued by the wildlife, offbeat location, and heritage of the Veddah people, we at Thema chose the scenic Rathugala Village to create our second glamping retreat for adventurous travellers and nature lovers from Sri Lanka beyond.
From the onset, our idea was to create a harmonious property that blends with our surroundings and provides a benefit to the locals. Constructed by the community during the height of the COVID pandemic in 2019, the villagers that helped us construct the property now work with us at our property and farm.
The property was built using a maximum of local materials and uses solar for most of the electricity of the property.
