Where Tradition Dances, and Spirits Come Alive
Image

Embark on a cultural odyssey in Sri Lanka as you delve into the enchanting traditions of the Veddah community, the island’s indigenous people.

Experience the mesmerizing Kiri Koraha, a sacred dance ritual practiced by the Adivasi group. In this ancient ceremony, participants gather around a clay pot or koraha filled with coconut milk, invoking blessings from the Kukulapola Kiri Amma and Unapotha Kiri Amma. The dancers, accompanied by the rhythmic beats of the Daul drum, move gracefully around the pot on a wooden stand called yahana. Led by the chief priest's chants and mantras, the ceremony invites the spirits, or nayakun, to the yahana. Witness the awe-inspiring possession of the priest, as ancient traditions come to life, offering you a profound glimpse into the spiritual heritage of the Veddah community.
